The
Department of Economics, National University of Modern Languages
(NUML), is a newly established department in the field of
education, training and research in economics and allied
disciplines to prepare experts
with following attributes:
Grasp over mainstream economics and
integration of modern economics;
To meet the challenging needs
of business, industry and financial institutions by
preparing manpower fully equipped with professional skill
and knowledge of economics, finance, banking, accounting and
law with special orientation in global trends;
Competence to independently carry
out theoretical and applied research;
To promote cooperation with other
institutes and organizations in the field of economics,
finance and allied
disciplines through seminars, colloquia,
conferences and workshops; and
To
adopt such other measures as may be necessary for the progress
of the country.
It is expected to organize teaching of economics and allied
disciplines at doctoral levels as well. It
has also to serve as a data bank for scholars, researchers and
policy makers to solve the economic & business problems of
different levels. It is also required to conduct training
courses for financial managers, policy makers and bankers, and
to provide consultancy services in economics, particularly in
integration of modern economics and WTO. Combination of these
functions in this department will give it a unique character and
a distinctive position in near future.
